Decking
Decking in Mitcham and south London
Softwood timber decking for seating areas and level changes, built square, fixed down properly and finished against the fencing and planting around it.
Why decking
How we build decking
Decking turns an awkward corner or a sloping patch into usable space. The gallery shows softwood decks tucked into garden corners against fresh feather-edge fencing, laid with gravel borders and set beside summerhouses. Built on a proper sub-frame, decking stays flat and square and does not bounce underfoot.
Because the same team does the fencing, the deck and the fence behind it are planned together, so the lines meet and the heights work. Tommy had his fence and decking built in one job and said the boys from Kane fencing worked really hard to make his dream garden come true.

Planning
Decking as part of the garden
A deck rarely stands alone. It usually comes with a fence, some paving or a bit of planting, which is why having one team is the tidy way to do it. Levels, drainage and the way the deck meets the lawn or patio all get decided together rather than left to chance.
Decking is described in one review, Tommy's, where it sits alongside the fencing rather than standing alone, and that is exactly how it usually comes. If you are weighing decking against paving for a seating area, Steven will give you a straight view on which suits your garden, since Kane lays both.

Was really pleased with the outcome of my fence and decking . The boys from Kane fencing worked really hard to make my dream garden come true. I would recommend them to anyone needing a hard working firm that specialises in garden maintenance

Common questions
Timber decking or a paved patio for a seating area?
Decking suits sloping ground and level changes and gives a softer, warmer feel underfoot. Paving is lower maintenance and better for very shaded or damp spots. Kane lays both, so the advice you get is not a sales pitch for one or the other.
Will the deck stay level and solid?
Yes, when it is built on a proper sub-frame that is set level and fixed down, which is how we build. That is what stops a deck sagging or bouncing over time.
Can you do the fencing and planting at the same time?
Yes, and it is the tidy way to do it. Reviews describe fence and decking built together in one job, with the levels and lines planned as one.
